Preparations continue for Section Hike 2009

There have been a ton of additional preparations going on that I have failed to report on. There are a few reasons for this. The first is that I'm pretty sure I have no one following this blog so timeliness is not an issue. The other is that I'm working on my MBA and am pressed for time with my schoolwork.

Things are going very well. Since my last post my Dad and the scouts did a couple of nice practice hikes. The first was a 6 mile loop hike at Bear lake. Good times quick and easy. The second was a little more fun we did an overnighter where we camped at Hurricane Lake, another cool lake in Blackwater State Forest. We had some neat stuff happen there. My Dad has decided to get all after this new backpacking business. He and my mother are very active and walk a lot anyway. The idea of backpacking with me and Caroline has got him hooked, addicted even. He has purchased a new Hennessy Hammock. He got the bigger one for the big dudes. It has the larger fly which I think is a great thing. He also has a new Kelty Redcloud pack which is just a primo high end pack. I am excited for him and us. Anyway I took the two big girls with me and they slept in the old hammock and I slept in my new one (which came for free with my Dad's hammock. All I had to do was pay him a split and we're good to go. So we all slept under the stars it was a nice night and a perfect day. Here are a few cool pics.
